Abstract
OBJECTIVE To ensure the safety and effectiveness of anti-infection treatment, the pharmaceutical practice model on clinical pharmacist participating in diagnosis and treatment for severely infected patient with renal insufficiency was discussed. METHODS Through participating in the diagnosis and treatment of one case of malignant otitis externa with diabetic nephropathy, clinical pharmacist adjusted antibiotics according to bacterial epidemiology and pharmacology, assessed kidney function and drug interactions, and dealt with the contradictions of treatment actively. RESULTS The pharmaceutical care and optimization of the anti-infection treatment program implemented by the clinical pharmacist made the patient get the effective anti-infection treatment and improvement of condition. CONCLUSION Clinical pharmacist can ensure safety usage and promote clinical rational drug use by providing individualized pharmaceutical care.
