Efficacy of Chinese Medicine Preparation of Polygonati Rhizoma in the Treatment of the 3rd Stage of Diabetic Nephropathy: a Meta-analysis

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy of Chinese medicine preparation of Polygonati Rhizome (CMPRP) in the treatment of the 3rd stage of diabetic nephropathy(DN). METHODS The randomized controlled studies (RCTs) of CMPRP treat for the 3rd stage of DN were collected. Meta analysis was performed by Revman 5.3 software. RESULTS Compared with control group, effective rate of CMPRP in the treatment of the 3rd stage of DN was significantly higher (P<0.000 01), urinary protein excretion rate was decreased obviously (P<0.000 1), but the urine β2 microglobulin and serum creatinine had no difference. CONCLUSION From this systematic review, CMPRP is effective in the treatment of the 3rd stage of DN. But there are some limitations in this study, and still need to be validated with good design, multicenter and large scale clinical randomized controlled study.
