    Protective Effect of Jiejiu Oral Liquid on acute liver injury in mice

    • OBJECTIVE To investigate the protective effect of Jiejiu Oral Liquid on liver injury induced by carbon tetrachloride(CCl4) in mice.METHODS Sixty Kunming mice were divided into the control group(n=10), biphenyl double ester group, model group(n=10, modeling by 0.3%CCl4 intraperitoneal injection of 5.0 mL·kg-1) and different concentrations of Jiejiu Oral Liquid treatment groups(n=10, by gavage of 25, 12.5 and 6.25 g·kg-1, oral liquid 25 mL·kg-1 for successive 8 d). After 12 h of CCl4 treatment, the fully automatic biochemical analyzer was employed to detect ALT, AST, ALB, GLB, TP and the method of liver tissue homogenate was used to detect MDA, SOD, GSH, and their changes were observed. In addition, the damage of liver tissues was observed by light microscope. Finally, the expression of bcl-2, MnSOD, and caspase-3 in liver was observed by the immunohistochemical method. RESULTS Jiejiu Oral Liquid could decrease the serum content of ALT, AST. The 25 g·kg-1 group of Jiejiu Oral Liquid could decrease the level of MDA, and increase the activity of SOD and GSH in liver homogenate. Jiejiu Oral Liquid could improve the pathological of liver tissue via observing confirm the pathological section histomorphology of liver tissue. The 25 g·kg-1 group of Jiejiu Oral Liquid could increase the level of MnSOD, bcl-2 protein expression, and decrease the level of caspase-3 protein expression by the immunohistochemical method. CONCLUSION For acute carbon tetrachloride liver injury in mice, Jiejiu Oral Liquid have a certain protective effect. It may improve liver antioxidant capacity, and inhibit liver cell apoptosis.
