Investigation on Medicinal Plant Resources of Melastomataceae in Zhejiang Province

OBJECTIVE To investigate the plants of Melastomataceae in Zhejiang Province by the Fourth Survey of Chinese Medicinal Resources, including their species, geographic distribution, resource characteristics, medicinal value, etc.METHODS Using the methods of field investigation, data collection and specimen identification to investigate the medicinal plant resources.RESULTS There were eight genus, sixteen species (including two varieties) which had medicinal value and one newly recorded species of Sarcopyramis bodinieri Lévl. et Van. in Zhejiang province. Melastomataceae plants had the effects of clearing away heat and toxic material, promoting blood circulation to arrest bleeding, reinforcing spleen and nourishing kidney, clearing away heat and promoting diuresis, clearing liver and improving vision and so on.CONCLUSION Investigation on the Melastomataceae medicinal plants is beneficial to the rational exploitation and protection of them.
